Schuyler Surf Camp Summary

Thursday, May 20, 2010 10:42:09 AM PDT

September 15, 2009, excerpts from Schuyler McFerran

In this blog post, Schuyler talks about her experience teaching at the Billabong Surf Camps this summer. While there, she handed out Sea Enzyme product samples and spoke about the brand.

From Sea Enzyme at Billabong Surf Camp
This summer was amazing. I had the opportunity to go to six of Billabong's surf camps in Southern California, and to also bring Sea Enzyme products and posters to each camp that I visited. Each camp was a completely different experience than the last, and I enjoyed the many dynamics and happenings of each. Having the opportunity to participate in camps from San Diego to Malibu enabled me to meet a wide variety of people. It also gave me the chance to share with both surf instructors and their students my love of surfing, personal experiences, and the importance of using a skin care product that truly nourishes and protects your skin.

Sea Enzyme has been the "miracle" product for my skin, and to be able to dialogue with such a diverse audience about Sea Enzyme and their products was very fun and memorable. It was an extremely fun summer that went by much too quickly, and I look forward to doing more surf camps with Sea Enzyme in the future!

Luscious Lips & Potions for Pretty Skin

Thursday, August 6, 2009 10:58:12 AM PDT

Check out this article excerpt about Sea Enzyme's products from the Daily Cookie

August 6, 2009 by Crystal

Nowadays dry skin is as unnecessary as creasing eye shadow. Just like you can use a primer for eye color, a good body moisturizer is the cure-all solution for dry skin.

My mild obsession with keeping my skin soft and supple leads me to try out tons of lotions and potions. There are different products for every body part, so it’s easy to get carried away!

Here are some of my top picks for keeping your skin feeling baby soft:

I never like to neglect my hands since they’re prone to aging faster than any other part of the body. Rubbing a cream rich with natural ingredients like lavender, chamomile, and green tea, is one easy way to keep them pretty longer. Smooth Sea Enzyme Seaweed Hand Cream ($18 US) onto your hands then slip them into gloves to help them heal from the day.

For feet, rub Sea Enzyme Seaweed Peppermint Foot Cream ($20 US) in, and put on big, thick socks to let your feet absorb the lotion. Peppermint, sage, and mint will cool and calm your tired, achy feet. Although the scent doesn’t make me crazy, it’s easy for me to see why my sister and mom like the rich botanical scent.

Schuyler McFerran, Spokesperson for Sea Enzyme

Tuesday, July 28, 2009 10:14:34 AM PDT

Schuyler McFerran, a loyal Sea Enzyme Skin Care user, is the spokesperson for Sea Enzyme

Sea Enzyme, an organic skin care line which incorporates the healing power of the ocean® into its face and body products, is proud to announce Southern Californian Surfer, Schuyler McFerran, as the spokesperson and face of Sea Enzyme. McFerran, 22, was the 2006 ASP Women's World Longboard Champion and has been riding pro for six years. With a passion for life and a go-get-‘em attitude, she embodies the active Southern Californian lifestyle which inspired the Sea Enzyme product line. With McFerran as the spokesperson and face of Sea Enzyme, the company hopes to teach active young women the importance of taking care of their skin the healthy way.

Schuyler is no stranger to the water – she comes from a surfing family: both of her parents are excellent surfers themselves. She says was only 10 when she pushed out onto her first wave in Encinitas, CA. After that, she was hooked. She is now an extremely versatile surfer who can ride anything from a fish to a traditional Longboard. Schuyler says that as a pro surfer, she is doing what she loves – surfing and traveling the world. And those who know her say that she has a great attitude and mellow demeanor which makes her incredibly likeable.

Aside from surfing, Schuler is a skilled artist whose mediums include photography, painting, and sculpting. In addition, one of hear goals is to establish a non-profit organization to help underprivileged children. We have no doubt that Schuyler will be a success at whatever she goes after in life.

Sea Enzyme is excited to have Schuyler as an ambassador for the brand: because of her active lifestyle, she knows the importance of properly cleansing and moisturizing to protect her face and body from the harsh effects of the sun, wind and waves. She also knows that the earlier good habits begin, the healthier the skin will be in the long run, and that Sea Enzyme’s cleansers, moisturizers, and hair products, with their natural ingredients and environmental protection, are the perfect products to get the job done.

A Great Beach Body Starts in the Shower

A Great Beach Body Starts in the Shower

July 24th, 2009 by Crystal

Let’s all admit it, half of a gal’s summer is spent getting ready for the beach AKA “swimsuit season”. No matter who you are or what you do, you want your body to look good when you get to the beach and spend endless hours exercising, dieting, and self-tanning.

But once you get to the beach, the sun, salt water, and sand can wreck havoc on your skin. What do you use to reverse the signs of damage? Here’s my solution:

You wouldn’t want harsh synthetic dyes and weird chemicals, like preservatives, to get absorbed into your skin, like you might get with other body washes. Instead, I use a USDA certified Organic shower gel like Sea Enzyme Seaweed Citrus Shower Gel ($25 US).

With the citrus scent, I could’ve sworn there were Orange Creamsicles in the shower, when I lathered it on! Plus, the seaweed extracts, an amazing antioxidant, detoxifies and tones the body without irritating it.

Sea Enzyme Seaweed Peppermint Scrub ($15 US) is your prescription for dry, cracked, and peeling skin. Exfoliation is key for sloughing off dead skin, and when the product for this nasty job is organic, that helps makes the job a little better!

Apricot kernels and aloe help heal and soothe skin, while peppermint and spearmint add that minty fresh tingly smell and feel. The scrub feels smooth, and leaves your skin glowing, and baby bottom soft. Try it on your feet for a luxurious foot rub. (P.S. I love the packaging! It’s not like traditional body scrubs where the product is stuck in a huge tub, and you have to claw it out with your fingers and nails!)

Fun Fact: It’s quite ironic and funny that the products use the power of the ocean to make their products amazing, yet the ocean/beach is what causes our skin to need these products! It’s a strange, strange world isn’t it?

What’s your stand on organic skincare? Would you purchase any, sometime in the near future? What’s your beauty ritual for prepping for the beach? Share your comments and tips below!

10 Reasons to Ride a Mat

Check out this article about our spokesperson, Schuyler McFerran in Surfline magazine!

10 Reasons to Ride a Mat

By: Schuyler McFerran

Sometimes life just gets the best of us. Maybe you accidentally asked an overweight woman when she's due or sent a creepy text to your crush then immediately regretted it.

On those days, you need to get in the water, wash off the stupidity and laugh at yourself while catching a few waves. But if the surf happens to be non-existent at that moment, a mat is the perfect solution.

Yet, Schuyler McFarren, the 2006 ASP Women's World Longboard Champ, is a bit more stylish and composed than most of us so she's got a completely different list of reasons you should invest in your very own surf mat. Or she's just trying to convince me to trade my hard boards for the squishiness of an inflatable mat since the first time we met as groms, nearly eight years ago, I ran over her board, gouging a gigantic chunk out of it. While I'll never live that one down, here's Schuyler's list of reasons to mat it up. – Ed

CA Botana Makes Eco-Chic Skin Easy

Wednesday, June 3, 2009 1:55:15 PM PDT

Great Article featured on the Daily Cookie Website

CA Botana Makes Eco-Chic Skin Easy

eco-beauty-ambient.jpg

Like many others, I’ve been caught up in the eco-chic wave looking to find new and upcoming companies with innovative and powerful green-friendly products. With a great recommendation, I’ve received some products from CA Botana to test and review.

CA Botana is a company that has distributed products to over 6o countries and is a staple brand in salons and professional clinics in over 65 countries. The brand focuses on staying ahead of the curve in terms of the latest and greatest beauty ingredients. For example, when a new plant or extract is discovered in the world, CA Botana tests the ingredient to see if it might improve their products.

Their three divisions are: Sea Enzyme, Dr. D. Schwab, and Ambrosia Aromatherapy.

Eco beauty products are defined as products that are naturally derived from renewable resources like plants and minerals. They are usually better for sensitive skin, since there are no harsh chemicals within the formulas to irritate it. CA Botana uses packaging that is low-impact for the environment.

(From left to right to bottom)

Dr. D. Schwab Soft Foam Deep Cleanse ($30 US) is a foaming cleanser that gently purifies the skin. I loved how one pump gave me a huge foamy mass of cleanser that was more than plenty for my entire face. It felt soft and gentle, and removed all of my face makeup. Plus I love the citrusy scent!

doctor-d-schwab-foam-cleanser.jpg

Dr. D. Schwab Sensitive Cleanser ($28.80 US) is a cream cleanser that lathers into foam. I liked the texture of this cleanser and used it when my skin was feeling dry, itchy and tight. The Aloe and Oak root helped calm my inflamed skin while soothing it.

Dr. D Schwab Bamboo Cream Peel ($25 US) uses bamboo, jojoba beads, and crushed almonds to help give you a smooth and silky complexion. Although the label says peel, this makes a better scrub. This is definitely my favorite product and a must-have for revealing more radiant skin. I like to use it twice a week as a scrub for my whole face to get rid of dead skin.

Sea Enzyme Mega Moisture Mist ($6 US) is from the Sea Enzyme line and works like a charm as a toner and refresher. Like my Korres Hydrating Face Water it gives your skin added moisture with just a couple of spritzes. I like that this product comes in a small and large size. The smaller size is perfect for touch-ups.

doctor-d-schwab-tinted-moisturizer.jpg

Dr. D. Schwab Flawless Skin Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 ($37 US) is a new product that is a great alternative to heavy foundation. I only needed a small amount for your whole face. In the picture, on the right, it’s unblended and on the left I used the same amount and still I couldn’t blend it all! The SPF 20 gives great sun protection and the light, dewy formula will give you coverage without that mask-like texture. This is a definite must for me in the summer.

Dr. D. Schwab Azulene Eye Make Up Remover ($8.50 US) gently removes makeup without irritating chemicals. It removed everything except my waterproof makeup. Since it’s not a waterproof remover, it didn’t completely work for me. Still, anyone with normal makeup would probably enjoy this remover as a great chemical free remover.

So, what do you think of CA Botana?  What would you try from this brand? Do you like eco friendly skincare? Spill in the comments!
